Advocacy

The IRF promotes best practices and advocates to governments, road agencies and global organizations for the importance of investments in road development and technologies across major policy areas: road safety, asset management, intelligent transportation systems and road financing.

By placing the road in the national, regional and international dialog in regards to economic and social development, the IRF ensures that policy makers and stakeholders are giving roads their proper priority.

The IRF Committees give special attention to the development of concrete responses to specific road problems. They create a wealth of resources including data, best practices and educational need and provide members with access to government decision-makers who are ready to hear their voice.

A Campaign to End Turned-Down Ends

The continued presence of obsolete and non-crashworthy forms of terminal treatment should be a concern to road authorities everywhere. IRF Washington is now calling for the formal prohibition of non-crashworthy terminals, and is stepping up efforts to educate the international road safety community to this unacceptable threat to motorists throughout 2012.
