Mission
The International Road Federation works with its public and private sector members to:
a) promote the education and understanding of the social, economic and environmental benefits which are derived from developing modern road networks, road transport systems and road traffic control;
b) encourage and promote the improvement of road safety;
c) encourage and support the planning and execution of economically and environmentally sound programs for the improvement and extension of road networks;
d) provide educational and training programs relating to the development and maintenance of road and road transport systems;
e) cooperate with, advise and exchange experience and expertise with international institutions;
f) advise, assist and promote the endeavors of existing national and regional road federations;
g) collect, collate and distribute relevant statistical, technical, economic, educational and other material pertaining to the improvement of road systems and standards;
h) contribute to the harmonization of standards; and
i) support research in all matters pertaining to road systems and the betterment of economic, technical and scientific knowledge.
